Google Places Page Data Corruptions
Posted on | December 2, 2010 | 1 Comment
The hard won Google Places page I set up for Hotels London is now showing data for another company. The page ownership is verified so I’ve ruled out hijacking and can only assume it’s down to Google’s own issues.
As you can see below, the live Places page shows a combination of data from Hotels London Ltd and a company called 123 Locksmiths:
• The Company name/page title is correct.
• Address is correct but may also be the address of 123 Locksmiths.
• Phone number shows a random number first then the correct one for Hotels-London.
• Categories, description, URL and contact details are for 123 Locksmiths.
• Photos are showing one from each company.
• Reviews, related places and more from around the web are all related to Hotels-London.
In the Hotels-London Places account the listing looks perfectly fine so I am unable to manually change the listing myself.
Even more random are the further places pages I have found for 123 Locksmiths:
All looks in order until you look at the reviews:
Nothing to do with 123 Locksmiths and the Google user review is from the USA!
Same issues with reviews on this page:
Totally bizarre! I’ll be having a conversation with Google of course….
I’d be interested to know if anyone else has spotted this kind of corruption within a Google Places Page.

URL has reverted back to correct hotels-london.co.uk since reporting this to Google. Let’s see how long it takes them to correct the other issues.
