I’ve had years of practice running community forums and have used various platforms from free ones to paid.
Experience has taught me that you get what you pay for and I am always happy to recommend vBulletin to clients. Combined with the vBSEO plugin it’s a killer combination with the advantage of scalability, support and search engine friendly urls.
The Horse Talk forum on Equine Online is an example of a busy horse forum using the above technology. It was installed and customised by myself. I look after the administration with two moderators being the day to day contact for the members.
